Bassa [2014-Ongoing]
Bassa describes the Emilia-Romagna region between the Po river and the Via Emilia and it tries to seize the undefined appearance of the area, waiting for something that must happen or exploring something that has just happened. Bassa represents – quoting the writer, translator and literary critic Gianni Celati – «the crossing of a sort of lonesome desert, that is in any case the everyday life». The vagueness of the area sometimes reaches abstract tones and flows all over the landscape giving it familiar and unreal look at the same time. In order to the spirit of the area, Bassa is an ongoing project, prolonged and expandable, not perfectly definable. It’s like getting lost in the surroundings or in a little lapse of memory.
